Dr. Amr Mohsen has over thirty years experience in the semiconductor and electronic industry. His responsibilities included, founding of start-up high technology companies, investment in information technology private companies, general management, strategic and business planning, team building, management of multi-disciplinary engineering organizations and advanced product and technology development. He authored over 60 technical articles and 40 patents, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and he was selected 'Man of the Year' by the Egyptian-American Organization in 2003, recognized for his outstanding contributions and leadership in science and technology, entrepreneurship, and service to the community. He was nominated by Arthur Young and Inc. Magazine as the Entrepreneur of the Year in 1989. He served on various organization and paper selection committees of numerous conferences and magazines. He delivered numerous keynote speeches, and contributed papers in many conferences, technical forums, and workshops. He has a broad range of experience and has carved out his own place in electronics history.

Dr. Mohsen received his Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering and applied physics from California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California in 1973 and 1971 respectively. He also received the M.Sc. in solid-state science and material engineering from the American University in Cairo, Egypt in 1971; and the B.Sc. in electrical engineering from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt, in 1968.

From 1977 to 1985, Dr. Mohsen was with Intel Corporation, where he led the development of the first CMOS 256K DRAM, which has become the industry standard DRAM technology. Prior to Intel, he was cofounder of Mnemonics Corporation, where he led the development of the 64K CCD memory chip for intelligent solid-state serial memory systems. From 1973 to 1975 he was with Bell Telephone Laboratories, where he made significant contributions to the development, modeling and characterization of Charge-Coupled Devices (CCDs) and MOS semiconductor technology.

He was founder of Actel Corporation and was chairman and CEO from 1985 to 1989. He led the development and introduction of Actel's proprietary technology products and raised $30 million of venture funding. In 1988, Actel’s product received “The Best Product of the Year Award” from the Electronic Product Magazine. Actel pioneered a new market for field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), or programmable chips, which is now more than a $2 billion industry. Actel is a public company with a market capitalization over $600 million.

Dr. Mohsen was the founder, Chairman & CEO of Aptix Corporation from 1989 to 2004. Aptix received over $50 million of venture funding to develop and market novel reconfigurable systems to enhance the development and implementation of electronic systems. In 1992, Aptix products received “The Most Innovative Product of the Year Award” from EDN magazine, and “The Best Product of the Year Award” from Electronic Product Magazine. Aptix was a pioneer of reconfigurable new products and solutions providing enabling infrastructure for the development of leading-edge electronic and System-on-Chip (SoC) products in wireless, communication and multi-media applications. Aptix solutions provided shorter time to market of higher quality products, with faster verification, more efficient system integration, concurrent application software validation, and early customer prototype-engagement for System-on-Chip product development.

Dr. Mohsen was chairman and member of the board of directors of several high-technology companies in Silicon Valley. He was chairman of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce (ICCI) in the Silicon Valley and was the president of the Association of Moslem Scientists and Engineers (AMSE) from 1992 to 1994.
